Avoid the strong Euro this summer

18 April 2008

Avoid the strong Euro this summer

Sales for Turkey this summer are up as holiday makers seek to avoid the strong Euro, it has been claimed

The sterling is currently weakening against the Euro, and according to the Post Office, sterling is worth nearly 17 per cent less against the currency than it was this time last year.

Alan Pugh, head of planning and trading at Thomsonfly, reports that holiday sales to Turkey are up ten per cent with Thomson this summer and up 30 per cent with First Choice, relfecting the new trend.

Turkey's neighbouring Mediterranean countries which use the Euro, such as Corsica or Malta, would be better visited with an all-inclusive holiday to avoid changing the UK currency into the Euro, Mr Pugh advised

At the border of Europe and the Middle-East, Turkey offers a unique blend of cultures, and constantly appeals to more Brits looking for something more than just sunshine.

Frequent flights with British Airways, Aegean Flights and budget airline EasyJet to various destinations in Turkey have made the country easily accessible.

Direct flights from London to Bodrum on the western coast take no more than four hours.
