Turkey ranked tenth for 2007

Whether it is for the sunshine, its fascinating blend of cultures or the promising profit it has to offer, investors have turned to Turkey in the last few years, and the country is now number ten on the list of British investors' favourite destinations.

Research by the Association of International Property Professionals (AIPP) has revealed that Turkey represented no less than two per cent of the market share last year, becoming one of the most sought after emerging markets in the world.

Rhiannon Davies, director of property website Amberlamb, has explained that investing in an emerging market "where you can pretty much predict and foresee long term rental demand" makes sense.

However, Ms Davies has warned: "An investor has to look to the longer term to ensure there is sustainability in a market in terms of growth, demand and affordability. They should not just buy in because the price is right".

The AIPP has found that approximately 242,000 overseas properties were purchased by Brits in 2007, representing an increase of 21 per cent on 2006.
