Turkey benefits from the value of the Euro

Turkey benefits from the value of the Euro

Although most summer holiday makers who have already booked their holidays to Europe should not be affected by the decrease in the value of the sterling against the Euro, those booking their holidays in the next few months are likely to favour destinations "on the edge of the Euro zone".

Derek Moore, the chairman of AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators), has explained that Turkey and Morocco figure among the countries likely to appeal to visitors this summer.

The Post Office has indeed revealed last April that the sterling is currently worth nearly 17 per cent less against the Euro than it was this time last year.

As a result, nearly a third of us (29 per cent) are considering travelling outside Europe because of the poor exchange rate against the Euro, a poll of moneysupermarket.com users has shown.

Turkey's sunshine and blooming culture are only four hours away from the UK with numerous direct flights operating from London Gatwick airport to Bodrum on the Mediterranean coast throughout the year.
