Bodrum and the Bodrum Peninsula have a wealth of differing landscapes and hidden treasures including traditional rural villages, small coastal resorts and superb cruising.
Turkey is the perfect destination for those who enjoy fine weather, beautiful scenery and lots of activities.
A holiday to the Bodrum peninsula can be as interesting and varied as you want to make it. Explore on foot, take a picnic and enjoy some marvellous walks and views, go by boat from one of the little jetties in the resorts and follow the coastline visiting the bays and secluded coves along the way. Take a snorkel to explore sunken ancient cities just below the waterline, or take the car and head inland to some of the traditional little villages in the hills. Travelling around the peninsula by car gives you the freedom to travel wherever and whenever you wish, alternatively, join the locals and take the small public buses, or dolmus, which hop from resort to resort as well as covering some inland villages.
The Bodrum peninsula is best known for its watersports, and you will find a range of water based activities including diving, sailing, windsurfing and snorkelling in many of the seaside resorts including Bitez, Yalikavak, Gumsuluk, Ortakent and Yahsi. Bitez is a top venue for windsurfing and snorkelling is popular in the clear waters around the peninsula.
Divers from all over the world enjoy exploring the waters around Bodrum. With warm sea temperatures and good visibility, you can dive around the numerous reefs, caves and majestic rock formations in waters that offer up multicoloured sponges and an immense variety of other aquatic life, including octopus, grouper, moray eel, rays, barracuda and bream.
The ideal climate, inviting waters and vast numbers of pristine harbours, bays and beaches make the Turkish Aegean one of the most attractive cruising and sailing destinations in the Mediterranean. Every year since 1989 the third week of October celebrates the end of the cruising season with the Bodrum regatta when over one hundred wooden built yachts or gulets take to the water in full sail for a week long race around the peninsula.
Walking and hiking are popular pursuits on the peninsula, and there are many interesting walks as well as organised group walks all year round with the possible exception of high season, during July and August, when temperatures are really quite high.
Our representatives in resort will be able to help you with further information on a full range of sports and activities.
